ROSEN SHINGLE CREEK has been awarded a Gold Adrian Award from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) for its brochure “The Heart of Shingle Creek,” honoring more than 1,000 construction workers from 150 contractor and subcontractor firms who built the new luxury resort, which opened Sept. 9, 2006.
The idea to create a brochure celebrating the accomplishments of the work crew came directly from Harris Rosen, President and COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, who regularly walked the worksite throughout the 21-month construction period, talking with construction workers and learning about their backgrounds. Long a supporter of diversity in the workplace, Rosen discovered that more than 40 nationalities were represented at his new resort and set out to honor and thank them for their hard work and dedication. The award-winning piece will compete for a Platinum Adrian Award in the public relations category at the HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala to be held Jan. 29, 2007 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York City.
“I envisioned this booklet to celebrate the men and women who put their hearts and souls into building this resort,” said Mr. Rosen, who is known throughout the hospitality industry for his high standards of associate satisfaction and training programs. “‘The Heart of Rosen Shingle Creek’ provides an up-front look at the faces and hands of a hard-working team who would otherwise go unnoticed and unappreciated. It puts the spotlight on individuals who literally gave life to what was once a twinkle in an architect’s eye.”
The four-color, 36-page brochure includes a heartwarming forward from Mr. Rosen and features 20 workers from various firms who shared their reminiscences about building the magnificent resort and working with such a melting pot of nationalities to realize a common goal on an aggressive construction schedule. The piece also details the massive amounts of steel, concrete, drywall and other materials used to complete the historic luxury resort.
Among the 20 workers featured was Jennifer Berrios of LaLos Painting Service, a native of El Salvador, who said, “This is the most significant job I have held since I arrived in the United States. I will miss my supervisors and the people I worked with — the way everyone treated me with kindness and respect.”
“I am so proud to be part of a team that built something so great,” said Rosen Central Engineering employee, Haso Muratovic, of Bosnia. “I will miss the relationships with my team members and colleagues the most.”
Each of the 1,000 workers at 150 contractor and subcontractor companies will receive a copy of the brochure, and the piece will be placed in guest rooms at the resort so that hotel guests can also learn about the incredible individuals who created the stunning resort brick by brick. The booklet also provides the contractors and subcontractors with a collateral piece that they can use to celebrate their accomplishments and earn new business. Meeting planners, corporate incentive specialists and other professionals involved with planning group business will also receive copies of the brochure. The award-winning collateral was produced as a team effort by Rosen Hotels & Resorts Associates, Digital Imaging Photography, LJ&M Associates and Deatrick Public Relations.
