As of February 1, 2007, JAVIER ARANDA PEDRERO became Director of Tourism for the Riviera Maya Tourism Promotion Board (FPTRM). Aranda Pedrero joined FPTRM following his work as Under Secretary of Tourism Promotion for the Tourism Secretariat in Quintana Roo. From 1997 – 2005, he also worked as Director of Cozumel’s Mixed Fund and Tourism Promotion Office. With extensive experience in the tourism industry, in both private and public sectors, he maintains headquarters in Quintana Roo where he has lived since 1989.

Aranda Pedrero graduated from the Study Center in Communication Sciences and has been an official of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Prepared Foods Industry (CANIRAC) in Cozumel. He has also acted as Manager of Cozumel’s Hotel Association for 12 years.

As Director of Tourism, Aranda Pedrero has declared his intention to continue with the 2007 Strategic Promotion Plan that was approved prior to his appointment. With this in mind, his strategy will include marketing and promotional efforts to draw even greater interest from the top markets for Riviera Maya, the U.S. and Canada, as well as Europe.
