ARTURO ESCAIP MANZUR, the former President of COPARMEX Cancun, has been appointed by the Governor of Quinta Roo, Felix Gonzalez, to serve as the new General Director of the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). "It is a great honor, and the challenges are exciting," said Escaip, who was appointed to the position on March 1st.  He added that, among his main duties, he plans on implementing a strong marketing campaign aimed at tourists in the U.S. and Canada.

Escaip served COPARMEX from 2004 to 2006, a union that represents industrial workers in the Mexican Republic.  He also serves as President of the Chamber of Commerce for the Mexico-United States Chapter in Quintana Roo.  Additionally, Escaip Manzur is a professor at LaSalle University and a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Quintana Roo. He graduated with a degree in economics from the Autonomous National University of Mexico and received a Master's of Economics as well as a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University. Escaip has lived in Cancun for 24 years and is married with two children.

As Escaip Manzur takes on his new position at the CVB, past General Director Artemio Santos Santos, who led the Bureau for almost two years, will settle into his new role as the Assistant Director of Tourism Operations for the Mexico Tourism Board. Escaip Manzur underlined that it is a great benefit to have Santos Santos as an ally in the Mexico Tourism Board and that the Cancun CVB will continue to build upon the solid foundation of Santos's work.
