King Pacific Lodge, A Rosewood Resort has named ROBERT PENMAN the new lodge manager of the award-winning luxury lodge located in pristine wilderness in British Columbia, announced President Michael Uehara.

Penman comes to King Pacific Lodge with extensive experience in wilderness resort and hospitality management as well as in food and beverage operations.  Most recently, for nine seasons he was general manager of the Clubhouse, The West Coast Fishing Club’s wilderness resort on Langara Island in the Queen Charlotte Islands.  Previous experience includes serving as food & beverage director of The Aerie Resort, the Relais & Chateaux property on Vancouver Island, and as executive chef of Paradise Island Resort & Casino in the Bahamas.

King Pacific Lodge is a one-of-a-kind luxury floating wilderness lodge anchored in a sheltered harbor along the shores of uninhabited Princess Royal Island in the 4.4-million acre Great Bear Rainforest, a protected area of British Columbia with the world’s largest remaining tract of temperate rainforest. It has 17 rooms and suites and is open from May through September.

The lodge recently broke new ground in ecologically responsible tourism by launching a plan to reduce its carbon footprint by 50 percent, including a first in the hospitality industry:  in addition to offsetting the carbon emissions of all lodge operations and employee travel, King Pacific Lodge is also offsetting guests’ air travel to and from the lodge – creating a truly carbon-neutral vacation.  Among the other key elements of  the  plan are installing a river-hydro plant and solar panels for power needs and using suppliers who conduct their own program of carbon reduction.

King Pacific Lodge guests enjoy interpretative hikes, sea kayaking, heli-hiking, whale watching and other wildlife viewing, floatplane tours, fly-tying instruction, cultural tours with the indigenous Gitga'at, searches to view the rare cream-colored ‘Spirit Bear,’ saltwater trolling, fly-fishing and remote freshwater heli fly-fishing. Guests return from activities to beautifully appointed, comfortable accommodations and gourmet meals paired with award-winning wines.

King Pacific Lodge is a member of the prestigious Rosewood Hotels & Resorts collection.  Dallas-based Rosewood manages properties worldwide including The Mansion on Turtle Creek and Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas, The Carlyle in New York, CordeValle in San Martin, California, San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos, Mexico, Hotel Seiyo Ginza in Tokyo, Japan, and a triumvirate of world-class Caribbean properties – Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda, Caneel Bay on St. John and Jumby Bay on Antigua.
