As the Sandpearl Resort’s much anticipated opening draws near, Coral Hospitality has appointed SIDNE FOX as Director of Catering & Conference Services, DJ JONES as Director of the Sandpearl Resort’s Beach Club, (an exclusive membership offering club-style amenities, priority access to resort facilities, and personal services) and GENE WARD as its Director of Revenue Management.
Fox brings over 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, most recently serving on the catering team at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure in Weston, Fla. Much of her career has been rooted in the Wyndham Corporation and Wyndham franchise properties, serving as director of catering & conferences, hotel manager, and food & beverage director, all within Texas and Vermont. Fox also served as regional director of catering, overseeing 24 full and limited service hotels for Wyndham in the Central United States and Canada.

DJ Jones is the Director of the Sandpearl Resort’s Beach Club and brings a successful combination of hospitality and residential marketing, most recently serving as director of sales and marketing of Genesis Designer Homes, a Savannah, Ga., based residential homebuilder with over $40 million in annual revenues. Other past positions include sales executive of Ryland Homes in the Ohio Valley and Tampa, Fla., divisions and director of sales at the Residence Inn by Marriott at the Cincinnati Airport. While in both positions, Jones was awarded “Sales Rookie of the Year”. She also received Ryland Homes’ top honor for sales, the Emerald Award, which recognizes achievement in sales, leadership and training. Jones earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Boston College.
“The Beach Club is one of the unique aspects of the Sandpearl Resort to the Clearwater area,” stated Stuart Arp, General Manager of the Sandpearl Resort. “Jones’ past experiences in hospitality and marketing make her the ideal person to introduce this concept to area residents.”
Gene Ward as the Director of Revenue Management will continuously analyze the market, using that information to set and adjust room rates and maintain room type availability through local, Internet and travel agency booking channels in order to maximize profitability. He will also train and lead a small team of on-site reservations/sales agents to provide a high quality of personalized service to travelers who call the hotel directly to book their stays.
Ward brings over 10 years of experience in hotel/resort revenue management, including executive team involvement with planning and pre-openings for two luxury hotels. He has held the position of Director of Revenue Management in the past, including most recently at the Lodge at Ocean Hammock in Palm Coast, Florida, as well as at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC, GF Hotel Management in Philadelphia, and the Westin and Sheraton Palo Alto in California.
Opening in summer 2007, the 253-room, eight-story luxury hotel will be the first new beachfront resort on Clearwater Beach in over 25 years. The current Sandpearl Resort team are in the pre-opening office located at 600 Cleveland Street in Clearwater until the resort opens.
Situated along a 700-foot expanse of pristine Gulf Coast beach, Sandpearl will feature 253 luxurious guest rooms, a lagoon-style beachfront pool with private cabanas, full-service spa, unique lifestyle enrichment programs, fine & casual dining, plus meeting & event space.
The Sandpearl Resort is being developed by JMC Communities (www.jmccommunities.com) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and is managed by Naples, Fla.-based Coral Hospitality (www.coralhospitality.com). Other project partners include the Hunter Hotel Group and Greenfield Partners.
