Marriott’s Central Region taps Bob Pfeffer as 2006’s Director of Sales & Marketing of the Year!  The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort executive was nominated by the hotel and recently honored with the regional Golden Circle Award.

As a result of Bob’s outstanding creativity, he led the resort to experience record-breaking group bookings in 2006 while fostering a productive sales environment.  Under his guidance, the sales team booked a 70% increase in room revenue all while the resort was undergoing a $187 million renovation, Marriott’s largest capital investment to date.  The resort’s National Group Account bookings also sky-rocketed to a 279% increase.  Pfeffer continuously motivates Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort’s sales team and established the sales team motto of “Fun is Good” to further promote enjoyment in the workplace.  

In an effort to engage the entire resort during site visits, he developed a two-tiered program where presentations were shown to the entire management team and all associates at department meetings.  As a result, the sales team held the top score in the company when it came to “being proactive in offering solutions.”  Throughout the year, the sales team has been recognized by the Global Sales Office for their responsiveness and ability to find solutions.

Under his leadership, Bob has brought enthusiasm towards achieving goals to a whole new level.  He entices and celebrates his sales team in a variety of ways such as special dinners at his home, taking his team on outings to competitive properties, recognizing the team at staff meetings or associate rallies and creating incentives for each one of his team members.
