FORWARD TO A FRIEND CALENDAR OF EVENTS  
 

 

The Conrad Bangkok recently organized The CONRAD YOUNG MUSICIAN of THAILANDh COMPETITION competing for The King’s Award which this year is the first year and the event was successfully arranged.

From the total of 76 applicants who sent their performances on CDs, 7 of them passed to the Final to perform at the hotel on 31 March, 2007, which was a Gala Dinner & Performance attended by honorary guests including Privy Councilors to The King of Thailand, Ambassadors, Professors, Celebrities and media.  The 4 international judges are high profile consisting of :

Mr.Richard Harvey(2nd right) : a prolific composer for Hollywood Films such as all the Harry Potter films , The Da Vinci Code , Kingdom of Heaven , The Lion King and many more.  He has recorded for and collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, John Williams, Stanley Myers and numerous others and has also made several classical albums.

 Ms. Tapalin Charoensuk, a Thai Cellist age 18, was The Winner who received The King’s Award, cash prize and a trip to London to perform a concert to be organized by the Royal Over-Seas League UK.

The King's Award from His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej has been specially designed by Mr. Watcharapol Lerlertthiyanupap, Conrad Bangkok Graphic Designer Manager. The impressive teakwood base, a carving of elephants was ordered from Lumpoon province in the north of Thailand, carved by 5 craftsmen. The uniquely designed clef logo on the top has now been officially registered as well as the name “The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition”.

The competition will be organized as the Conrad Bangkok’s annual event.
