Augus Sun International Hotels & Resorts announces the November 2007 opening of 948 hotel rooms at PORT GHALIB, the largest privately owned marina on Egypt’s Red Sea, developed by the M.A. Kharafi Group at a total investment of 1.2 billion US Dollars.
The luxury resort & conference complex “Sun International Resort at Port Ghalib” is majestically situated on the banks of the Red Sea and will offer superb hospitality provided by the famed luxury hotel group from Southern Africa. The Sun International resort comprises three properties: the 5-star deluxe hotel “The Palace at Port Ghalib” and two 5-star hotels, the “Sahara Sun Oasis” and the “Sahara Sun Sands”. All three properties are authentically Egyptian in style and guests will be treated as Pharaohs with no expense spared to create the ultimate luxury experience.
In addition to the hotel rooms, Sun International will also manage a world-class 65,000 square foot conference center, with the capacity to accommodate up to 1,500 people for presentations (800 banquet style). There will be an additional 20 breakaway rooms ideally suited to smaller conferences, banquets, and break-away sessions. The conference center will boast the most up-to-date facilities and technological advances, service by experienced hotel conference personnel, and award winning cuisine by top chefs under the command of Conrad Gallagher, Sun International’s Michelin-starred executive chef.
Guests of the Sun International’s Port Ghalib properties will be immersed in a dynamic town center inspired by historical Egyptian architecture. Busy promenades with shops, boutiques, restaurants, bistros, cafés, and galleries will provide entertainment for all ages. Extensive marine, sports and leisure facilities will also be available. Shuttle buses, carriages, and water-taxis will link the marina village with the other neighborhoods of Port Ghalib.
The Port Ghalib development covers a total area of 6,425 acres, stretching along 11 miles of virgin shoreline and beautiful coral reefs of the Red Sea. At the crossroads of Africa, the Mediterranean, Europe, and the Southern Trade Routes, the new Port Ghalib International Marina is positioned to be the top yachting destination on the Red Sea and a luxurious gateway to the Land of Pharaohs. The close proximity of Luxor, Edfu, and Aswan allows guests to visit the monuments richly scattered in the adjacent Nile Valley.
Sun International’s hotel properties and conference center at Port Ghalib will be the latest addition to their portfolio of world-class conference and meeting facilities and luxury properties, which include Sun City and The Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town. Sun International is known for its ability to create exceptional conferences, meetings, and events no matter the size of the group. Their reputation for excellence is built on a winning formula of service, attention to detail, and exceptional food and beverage offerings.
