The WESTIN NEW YORK at Times Square, which opened in fall 2002, is undergoing a $20-million refreshment program, ahead of schedule, after only five years of operation.  While the 863-room hotel, with its colorful, eye-catching facade, is not yet in need of renovation, Tishman Hotel Corp. has decided to invest in the property, which has become synonymous with the remarkable renaissance of Times Square.

“Renovating after such a short period of time ensures the hotel always stays ahead of the curve,” said .  “This makeover shows our commitment to guests, assuring the hotel never gets tired.”

Highlights of the guestroom renovation include new, sleek, extra-long veneer-topped solid maple wood headboards that gracefully frame both the famous Westin Heavenly Bed® and the two nightstands.  Glass coverings were added to all desks and table tops, and the upholstered chair and padded bench now boast fabrics in a soft palette with blue accents.  New floor lamps, soft sage wall coverings, carpets, drapes and artwork complete the new design concept of rich textures combined with subtle and neutral colors.  32” LCD HD “Truly Flat” televisions with razor-sharp images, high resolution, bright picture and generous viewing angle were installed.  Bathroom amenity carts were replaced with sleek hanging shelves.

Bar 10, the hotel’s second-story hotspot is now refreshingly and invitingly open to the lobby.  The solid wall that separated the bar from the lobby was replaced with a glass wall.

The 32 meeting rooms have already received $1.5 million in new carpets and wall coverings.  The Majestic Ballroom will be renovated this August.
