Phuket, Thailand – Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket was recently awarded “Excellent Resort of the South” in the 7th Thailand Tourism Awards 2008 by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
To encourage competitiveness in terms of management and service quality in various areas of the tourism industry for benefits in marketing as well as sustainable conservation of the natural resources, environment and art and culture, the awards were divided into six categories as follow:
- Awards for Tourism Development and Promotion Organisation
- Awards for Communication and Public Relations Works
- Awards for Tour Programme
- Awards for Tourist Attractions
- Awards for Health Tourism
- Awards for Tourist Accommodation
The selecting panel and the judging panel have jointly reviewed each contestant carefully. Issues on the environment, global warming, participation, sufficiency economy philosophy, good governance, the overall linkage context, and responsibility to society, were included in the criteria.
“We not only do our best to maintain our unique 5-star standard of services but also better our rooms and facilities as well as our people with a view to give a refreshing experience for all guest no matter what their journey. This year, we added up new a spacious 2-bedroom Dusit Thani Pool Villas as another alternative for those with luxurious preference. We also take environmental issues seriously here as we have a very active “Green Leaf Committee” who achieved us a number of honourable environmental related awards for our environmental friendliness and great effort to run the business with the lowest impact on environment and least effect on global warming,” said Mr. Peter Komposch, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket.
“This is really a reward for all staff for the great effort they have put in their job aiming to deliver the promising holiday experiences to our guests and also encourage us to DO MORE,” added Peter Komposch.
Mr. Peter Komposch represented Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket to receive the award from the H.E. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports, held in Bangkok on 27 September 2008.
