The WESTIN NEW YORK at TIMES SQUARE recently completed a $1.25-million renovation on its Majestic Ballroom and pre-function area.  The overhaul was part of the hotel’s $20-million refreshment program after only six years of operation.  Under the direction of New York-based George Wong Design, the new Majestic Ballroom and pre-function area were updated with Swarovski crystal chandeliers and a neutral palette, providing endless options for event planners and customers to infuse virtually any color scheme and theme into their meeting, wedding or social gala.

The most stunning, and expensive, feature of the new 3,500 square-foot Majestic Ballroom are the 18 free-hanging Swarovski crystal chandeliers designed by Schonbek Worldwide Lighting, which cost $500,000.  Ranging in size from four to eight feet in length, the chandeliers glisten with interlocking strands of Swarovski SPECTRA® crystals, suspended from ceiling coves finished in a silver-leaf wall covering.  The intricate installation process took four days to complete.  Fourteen cascading Swarovski SPECTRA® crystal sconces are placed around the room.  Large mirrors are strategically placed to reflect the chandeliers and sconces, creating soft ambient lighting.  The Swarovski chandeliers flow into the pre-function area, which serves as the perfect setting for pre-dinner cocktails and the like.

Custom-designed dark cherry-stained doors with transom panels create a regal entrance to the newly designed space.  In the Majestic Ballroom, three distinct wall coverings offer texture and depth in varying shades of warm honey, taupe and sleek silver, complimented by new earth tone carpeting.  This purposeful, neutral palate enables the event host to blend their vision into this newly designed function space.  Additional upgrades include new chairs and adjustable lighting.

For those spending the night, newly redesigned guestrooms include sleek, extra-long veneer-topped solid maple wood headboards adorning the famous, ultra-comfortable Westin Heavenly Bed®.  Glass coverings were added to all desks and table tops, and the upholstered chair and padded bench now feature fabrics with blue accents.  New floor lamps, soft sage wall coverings, dark carpets, drapes and artwork complete the design concept of rich textures against subtle and neutral colors.

The Westin New York at Times Square boasts over 34,000 square feet of flexible meeting space featuring 32 meeting and breakout rooms, including a dramatic, seven-story interior atrium, and three ballrooms, ranging from 220 square feet to 3,500 square feet.  There is also a 13-screen movie theatre, accommodating up to 526 people, connected to the hotel.  All of the flexible meeting space features sophisticated and extensive audiovisual capabilities and full banquet and catering services.
