FORWARD TO A FRIEND CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Situated along a charming brick-lined street amidst an array of boutiques and fine art galleries, will be the new 107-room LORIEN HOTEL & SPA.  Located at 1600 King Street in historic Old Town, , the hotel is the crown jewel of Kimpton’s Washington D.C. hotel collection. With its dedicated spa, world class interior design and three culinary venues by celebrated chef Robert Wiedmaier, this distinctly luxurious urban retreat is a destination in and of itself, while also offering easy access to the sights and attractions of Washington DC and the neighboring Virginia countryside.

Featuring a coral-hued brick façade and copper rooftops, the six-story property blends seamlessly into its historic surroundings. Stepping through the picturesque courtyard into the hotel’s lobby, guests are welcomed with sleek and elegant interiors by acclaimed interior designer Vicente Wolf. Artfully blending old with new, Wolf reinterprets American classic design with a decidedly modern flair. The contrasting textures of steel against brick, shiny copper and raw slate, and mahogany against marble, exude a subtle elegance that is both comforting and inspiring.

The 107 spacious guestrooms and suites will have a warm and residential atmosphere, with a calming palette of robin’s egg blue, gray and white. Custom furnishings by Vicente Wolf include modified wingchairs, trellis-like headboards, and the bathrooms in numerous rooms and suites are fitted with elegant claw foot tubs or rainfall showers.

Many rooms feature spacious private balconies overlooking the hotel courtyard or the Alexandria skyline. In the hotel’s premier suites, expansive terraces are as large as 700 square feet, with cozy couches and seating, ideal for entertaining or nighttime stargazing. To enhance the experience in these exclusive suites, the hotel will offer a Terrace Menu with choices that range from private wine tastings and alfresco dining to dance lessons, as well as more playful amenities such as sleeping bags, luxurious blankets, telescopes, and more.

Amenities in the Lorien Hotel & Spa’s guestrooms include 42” flat panel televisions, a spacious work area, wireless and wired high-speed Internet access, an iHome clock radio, laptop safes, plush robes, and gourmet honor bar featuring organic and healthy options.  Guests can also enjoy signature Kimpton services including in-room yoga, Pilates and meditation TV programming, 24-hour room service, Forgot It? We’ve Got It! travel items, and overnight shoe shine and valet/laundry service.

At Kimpton Hotels every hotel tells a story, and at Lorien Hotel & Spa the story of dreams is celebrated through personalized amenities and pampering services. Guests at the hotel are encouraged to dream big – nearly any request will be accommodated to ensure guest satisfaction.  The dream story will be brought to life through personalized amenities such as a 24-hour “dream” button on all guestroom phones, with a direct line to a highly-trained concierge. An extensive “Dream Service Menu” will make available specialized amenities including comfort foods, soothing bath, aromatherapy and pillow options, that can be delivered to the room to help set the stage for a good night’s sleep and sweet dreams.

The Lorien Hotel & Spa also features over 3,500 square feet of sophisticated meeting and event space, including three meeting rooms, a hospitality suite and functional outdoor venues. Customized meeting breaks, including private wine tastings and dinners prepared by Chef Robert Wiedmaier, can be arranged through the hotel’s team of professional meeting planners.

Lorien Spa & Fitness Center
The Lorien Hotel & Spa will be the first hotel in Old Town Alexandria to feature an on-site full-service spa.  Available to guests as well as locals, the 4,000 square-foot spa and fitness center will combine the comfort and intimacy of a boutique hotel with the amenities of a resort to create an oasis that renews and indulges guests’ spirits. The spa will feature five treatment rooms and offer everything from manicures and pedicures to aromatherapy massages and caviar facials, all utilizing organic and paraben-free products by Kerstin Florian. Guests can unwind before and after treatments in the spa’s cozy “Dream Lounge” or take advantage of the steam rooms and 24-hour fitness center featuring a full range of exercise equipment. Personal training and yoga classes will also be available by appointment.

Dining
Lorien Hotel & Spa will also be a gourmand’s dream with not one, but three dining venues helmed by celebrated chef Robert Wiedmaier. The foodie trifecta includes a 105-seat restaurant, a 43-seat tasting room, and Old Town’s first gourmet wine and cheese retail shop.

BRABO by Robert Wiedmaier will serve Belgian cuisine with American inspiration in an atmosphere imbued with warm tones of copper and brick. The restaurant will feature a list of small production, hard-to-find, yet approachable wines from around the world, and an extensive list of Belgian beers.  Many ingredients will be from local farmers and highlight the bounty of the region.  A shimmering copper bar will serve as a bold focal point for this eatery, which will be open nightly for dinner.

At BRABO Tasting Room, Chef Wiedmaier will provide a more casual experience reminiscent of early European dining, where guests can share food and wine in the spirit of community. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the wood-burning oven will produce most of the menu items, such as tarts, mussels, and charcuterie offerings.  Antiqued brick flooring and a zinc bar will offer a subtle nod to the building’s historic past.

Completing the experience is The Butcher’s Block, a Market by RW, Old Town’s first gourmet wine and cheese shop. Featuring items that a home chef can use to enhance a meal, the shop will specialize in items such as wine, gourmet beer, cheese, sauces charcuterie and house made jams.  Locals and hotel guests alike will be able to purchase these items, as well as pates, fresh baked baguette sandwiches, olives and cheese.
