Ethiopian Airlines and South Africa Airways announced that they are offering special airfares for travel agents with who are going to Tanzania for the KARIBU TRAVEL and TOURISM FAIR in Arusha, June 5-7, 2009.
The largest and most ambitious travel industry event in East Africa, the Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair will celebrate its 10th Anniversary this year. Held just outside of Arusha, Tanzania’s safari capital, Karibu attracts travel industry partners from around the world. The annual event is organized by the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT).

The South African Airways Karibu Fair rates are offered via Johannsburg to Dar es Salaam, and are available in both Economy (“G”) and Business (“D”) Classes. The Economy Class fare is $799 plus taxes and fees, with a free stopover in Johannesburg from IAD in Washington D.C. and same day connections from JFK in New York. The Business Class fare is $6,455. Validity from the US to Dar es Salaam is June 1-7, 2009; validity returning from Dar es Salaam is June 7-12, 2009. Agents can book this fair by calling South African Airways 800-722-9675.
Part of the uniqueness and excitement of The Karibu Travel and Tourism Fair is that it is an outdoor event that offers a real safari experience. Over 250 exhibitors and thousands of regional and international visitors are expected to attend the 2009 Fair, which is open to the trade on June 5th and 6th, and the public on June 7th. Travel industry suppliers, large and small, including tour operators, tourist boards, hoteliers, and support service representatives and equipment manufacturers are typical participants. International travel trade journalists regularly cover the event along with local media, and "familiarization trips" are being offered to encourage international travel agents to attend.

There will be a daily shuttle service provided free of charge to all visitors and exhibitors. The shuttle shall pass by all the major hotels in Arusha Town.
This year, for the first time, Karibu is offering a pre-fair safari for agents to the Southern Circuit.
