The EMORY CONFRENCE CENTER HOTEL (ECCH) in Atlanta has completed its new, soon to be LEED-certified addition. The major conference center and hotel expansion began in March of 2008.
The new five-story structure, to be certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council, connects to the existing building by a bridge and includes 127 new guest rooms, 6,000 square feet of additional meeting space, Wisteria Lanes-a six-lane bowling alley with retro décor that includes a full bar and game room, and a parking garage.
The added guest rooms and meeting space will result in ECCH offering a total of 325 guest rooms with six suites and 32,000 square feet of meeting space. The new 6,000 square-foot meeting space consists of a ballroom, boardroom, and a technologically advanced seminar room. Several lushly landscaped outdoor patio areas have been added, including one with a fire pit.
Extensive renovations have been completed for the Indoor Pool, Health Club, Club Room, Dining Room, and Kitchen in the existing building. ECCH will work toward achieving LEED status for the existing building as well.
Kathryn Johnson, General Manager of the Emory Conference Center Hotel states that she and the team are extremely excited about the expansion, which allows us to be the first Conference Center in the city of Atlanta to receive LEED certification.
